I love set-in sleeves. I think they are chic, and what's better, they offer a nice area between the armholes for stitch patterns, cables, or design elements- which isn't interrupted by frequent increases or decreases. I suppose this more than anything is why I end up gravitating to this construction over and over again.
I had a difficult learning curve with these, even though they aren't that difficult- I was just short on information. Specifically, how to calculate and execute the sleeve cap.
These seamless set-in sleeves are shaped using short rows, and require only a few necessary calculations. The tutorial is a fleshed-out version of the instructions found in Barbara Walker's Knitting from the Top Down.
So here it is- the information I was looking for all along!
Huge thanks and credit is due to Ysolda for idea and format!
