Knitting Flat: Both the RS and WS of the fabric are worked.

Knitting in the Round (or 'Circular Knitting'): Only the RS of the fabric is worked.

  • Casting on: Using the circular needle; cast on 96 stitches
  • Joining in the round- careful not to twist.
  • Markers
  • 1x1 ribbing in the round
  • stockinette in the round


Work in stockinette (knit every round) until piece measures 5" from cast on edge.


Always check to make sure that your sttiches are not twisted when joining in the round!

Knit the first 2 stitches with the tail for a smooth join.

Use a circular needle a few inches smaller than the circumference of your piece for comfortable knitting
